- Training opportunities for people with disabilities
Young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) often feel excluded and isolated from their peers, which can lead to solitary behavior that often carries over to adulthood. Best Buddies Pennsylvania's Ambassador training creates opportunities for participants with IDD to socialize, share their life stories, spread awareness, and successfully integrate at school and in the workplace.
Participants in Best Buddies’ Ambassadors Leadership Program receive training in speech writing and public speaking so they can become advocates for those with IDD and the Best Buddies programs. They'll learn the necessary tools to help spread awareness to eliminate the use of hurtful words such as "retard" from everyday language and ultimately create opportunities for others with IDD to socialize and become more involved in their communities. After completing training, Ambassadors can speak to local legislators and Best Buddies chapters, train others with IDD, and work at recruitment fairs and other Best Buddies events.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help Best Buddies Pennsylvania train people with IDD to become advocates for others with IDD and the Best Buddies programs. If G-Team members raise $300, then Best Buddies Pennsylvania can send three people with IDD to its Ambassadors Leadership Program. Each additional $100 raised will cover the costs for one more Best Buddies participant to attend the Ambassadors program.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
