Tours take place on most weekend evenings, alternating between Aurora and Naperville from week to week. See the schedule.

On Friday evening, Naperville tour-goers meander the brick-paved walkways of the North Central College campus, learn about the legends of Charlie Yellow Boots and the Specter of Seibert Hall, and ghost-hunt with EMF meters at the site of the great Naperville train disaster. Saturday tours in Naperville lead guests along the Naperville Riverwalk, where they can hear the story of the lost-children mystery, the sad tale of Chicago Avenue Mary, and other haunting chronicles of the DuPage River area.

Aurora’s sinister tours depart Friday and Saturday from outside the Two Brothers Roundhouse, itself supposedly haunted, before taking guests through the “city of cemeteries.” As storytellers command attention with unsettling historical tales and travelers stare at their EMF meters for flashes of paranormal activity, the tour makes its way through the Aurora Riverwalk to Stolp Island.

Haunted Hometowns

On tours from Haunted Hometowns, each traveler clutches an EMF meter, nervously waiting for a flash that detects electromagnetic fields, thus signaling the presence of paranormal activity. Meanwhile, a seasoned storyteller imparts gripping tales of murder, local legends, and ghostly encounters. Based on the books of ghost historian and storyteller Diane Ladley, Haunted Hometowns tours build on her four decades of research, as well as her intimate knowledge of the area and its rumored spectral inhabitants. Guides encourage participants to tote along their cameras so that they’re prepared to preserve the spooky sights along the way and catch photo-bombing ghosts in the act.
