Choose Between Two Options

  • $59 for an academic evaluation and two hours of tutoring (a $355 value)
  • $79 for an academic evaluation and four hours of tutoring (a $515 value)

The detailed academic evaluation accounts for each student's strengths and weaknesses. It takes about an hour for nonreaders and about three hours for everyone else. Tutoring sessions then aim to give students a taste of success, and therefore begin at a difficulty level that's slightly below the student's current aptitude. As students reach various objectives, the tasks become more difficult. Nonreaders generally receive one-on-one tutoring, whereas most others meet in small groups with no more than a four-to-one student-to-teacher ratio.

Huntington Learning Centers

In 1977, career educators Eileen and Raymond Huntington opened the first Huntington Learning Center in Oradell, New Jersey. Their mission to give every child the best education possible is still going strong. They use an individualized approach to education, adjusting instructional tactics according to each student’s particular needs. Due to their success in helping K–12 students prepare for exams and improve grades and study skills, there are currently 260 Huntington franchises open nationwide.

The certified Huntington tutoring staff utilizes testing and rubrics for assessing each child’s skills, academic needs and potential for growth. Tutors note student response to different testing and academic situations to craft a methodology sensitive to each child’s learning style. Teachers adhere to the company’s code of ethics that stresses professionalism and confidentiality, encouraging students to improve grades honestly through dedicated study rather than shortcuts.

“We are finally on the right track. My son was experiencing trouble following the pace in which the materials were being taught. I purchased the groupon, but didn't have much hope. I brought my son to the center on 72nd in NYC for the 4 hour evaluation. He was apprehensive and angry that I had brought it there. We have been there for 6 weeks now and he likes the environment/his teachers. He goes 2x a week for a total of 4 hours. There’s no point in arguing that it is an expensive journey, but one that has the potential of helping children reach their potential by teaching skills/confidence/learning.”

  • “They are very thorough! Very professional and are great at what they do! ”
