Infant Aquatics’ sage director, Michelle Alpern, tailors highly effective 10-minute swimming tutorials to swimmers of all ages, from tots as young as 6 months to adults. Each personalized lesson grants one-on-one attention to pupils, ensuring that children feel comfortable in the water in the interim before they sprout their first set of dorsal fins. Swimmers 6 to 12 months old increase buoyancy with a bevy of swim-float-swim techniques, including holding their breath, rolling from face down to back up, and floating. After turning 1, students proceed to advanced amphibious skill sets such as swimming with their face in the water, rolling over to breathe, and entertaining company on a lily pad. Lessons can be scheduled at Notre Dame College in South Euclid Monday–Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club in Chagrin Falls on Tuesday–Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to schedule early for the best availability.
