Upload a masterpiece with today's Groupon: for $34, you get a basic point-and-shoot or DSLR digital-camera class with an additional field session at JDP Photography in Irvine (a $69 value).
Accomplished shutterbug Julie Diebolt Price imparts the photography skills that led her photos to grace the covers of Digital Photographer and Italian America magazine during a variety of three-hour digital-camera courses. The Point & Shoot class curriculum sheds light on the digital camera’s many buttons, functions, and complex daguerreotype plates, and DSLR sessions illuminate the ins-and-outs of students’ specialized and powerful cameras. Once acquainted with their lens-bearing friends, students schedule a follow-up field session to explore ISO and shutter speed by snapping shots in the real world. In both classes, participants will need to bring all their camera’s accouterments, including its manual, memory card, and batteries to ensure a well-rounded lesson and keep cameras from being caught disrobed on film. Winter and spring sessions occur several times a week; patrons should check the schedule to begin their photo journey.

About JDP Photography
Julie Diebolt Price, president of JDP Photography, puts friendly faces on websites and brochures by crafting portraits for corporations, entrepreneurs, and organizations. In addition to helping clients such as Standard Pacific Homes, Women Helping Women, and Orange County Rescue Mission, Julie chronicles programs and events for the National Association of Women Business Owners, and she rubs elbows with august institutions such as the Professional Photographers of California and the Professional Photographers of America. Despite a successful professional career—her portfolio is filled with group portraits, product images for advertisements, and stock photos—she has not neglected her artistic side: a piece she dubbed “Tableau at Badling” landed a spot in the PPA’s 2010 International Photographic Competition general collection. When she isn't snapping photos, she teaches others how to use cameras such as DSLR, point-and-shoot, and camerae obscurae.
