For nearly 40 years, servers have dished out gourmet Italian cuisine at this casual, family-owned restaurant. Guests can cozy up to the bar for an appletini ($10) or glass of chianti ($9), and sustenance-starved diners can peruse the morsel-packed menu of house-made pastas, such as lobster-cream bowtie ($32.95) or Mamma’s lasagna ($20.95), in between glances at the generations-old Mineo family photos that adorn the walls. Shrimp scampi ($27.95) shares menu space with veal and beef specialties, including veal sorrentino, with roasted peppers, tomato sauce, and sprinkles of fontina cheese ($24.95), and tenderloin napolitana ($29.50), topped with eggplant and cheese.

John Mineo's Italian Restaurant

A little over a decade after John and Anna Mineo's 1958 arrival in St. Louis, they chose to open a quaint 12-table restaurant to carry on the culinary traditions of their native Sicily. More than 40 years later, John Mineo's Italian Restaurant stands in the same spot, sporting an addition that allows the dining room to seat 180 guests, as well as a handful of new family photos decorating the walls. Tuxedo-wearing servers move from table to table, carrying Sicilian-inspired dishes such as tenderloin Napolitana as well as steaming bowls of freshly made pasta covered in bright sauces.

Perfection! Perfect service, perfect food, perfect atmosphere...

Excellent Sicilian/Italian food . . . Very nice wine list. House Chianti very good also.
