For $54, today's deal gets you a two-person team entry to the New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride on Sunday, March 20 (a $90 value).
The Urban Assault Ride sends bi-wheeled lads and lasses on a citywide bicycle scavenger hunt, where driven teams of pedal pushers scour Tucson for checkpoints containing whimsical obstacle courses. Each course is kept under wraps until the race, but past colorful challenges have included human bowling, piggyback polo, and paperboy relay. Teams will choose their own route and check-point order for the concrete journey, speeding off from Maynard's Market before venturing out in search of six checkpoints and two mystery checkpoints.
The team to cruise through all checkpoints in the shortest amount of time wins, and the top-three road-warrior duos will receive prizes for their valiant efforts, such as Timbuk2 bags, Keen shoes, and Urban Assault Ride socks and arm warmers. After crossing the finish line, all teams can celebrate at the after-party, teeming with New Belgium beer, big wheels, and raffle prizes, which include a limited-edition New Belgium bike. Aside from providing an exhilarating experience, the Urban Assault Ride helps promote and encourage bicycle commuting and does its civic cyclical duty by implementing myriad environmental practices and contributing their proceeds to local nonprofits.
