Piatti Pronti’s professionally equipped kitchen can barely contain Chef Lucia Biscaglio’s enthusiasm as she elucidates the art of classic Italian cooking throughout a schedule of 90-minute classes. To begin, up to 20 students craft stretchy dough, learning the ingredient mixtures and secret incantations necessary to summon a pizza foundation from scratch. After finishing off self-toted bottles of wine or beer, fledgling chefs play spin-the-bottle to determine which of seven ingredients, including house-made sausage, four cheeses, pepperoni, and veggies, will adorn the individual-sized dough disc. Next, fiery ovens toast crusts and bubble up cheese before participants devour their creations. Dessert signals a sugary finale to the course, though Chef Lucia sends students home with a sack of dough and a recipe card to guide future endeavors. Additional class times may be added as interest and lunar phase dictate, and Piatti Pronti invites customers to express their availability on a Groupon-specific class-registration page.

Piatti Pronti

40 years ago, the initials heading C&D Towing stood for the Cicero & Devon Texaco gas and service station, founded by brothers Val and Joe Strumberger. Today they've come to stand for "Capable and Dependable," the values carried by the tow truck drivers who rescue cars and trucks of all sizes from a future spent trying fruitlessly to hitch a ride from passing semis. Along with gently rolling vehicles onto a fleet of handsome red trucks, C&D's technicians can protect and resuscitate them with services including jumpstarts, tire changes, seasonal safety checks, and electrical work.
