Anna was very knowledgable and engaging. The content was easy to understand and I really liked that we applied the knowledge by taking our own shots. This was a great purchase!
  • Learn how to properly use your DSLR or other camera
  • Put techniques into practice
  • One instructor per 20 students

Much like boundaries in relationships and eyesight during dollhouse renovations, photos are best when they're not blurry. Clearly capture your feelings with today's Groupon: for $69, you get a four-hour Learn Composition and Master Your Camera class and a two-hour photo tour from The Right Light Photography (a $200 value).

The Right Light Photography instructors help students understand the full capabilities of their memory-preserving machines during four-hour camera-mastery classes. The techniques learned during the class can then be used to take masterful photos of friends, family vacations, and camera-shy abominable snowmen. Amateur snappers receive instruction on how to properly align shots and compose photographs using professional techniques. Then, teachers reveal how to manipulate a camera's shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and white balance to ensure that photos develop clearly without being overexposed or filled with fuzzy Loch Ness monsters. Prior to departing for the photo tour, the instructional quartet takes time to provide one-on-one assistance and answer any questions. After class, students break for lunch and reconvene at the studio to utilize their newly acquired skills throughout Little Italy, along the San Diego harbor, and, if lucky, while peering into the open mouth of a migrating humpback whale. Small groups of shutterbugs repair to four pre-selected locations, completing a string of exercises designed to put what they've learned into practice.

Students must bring their own cameras, preferably DSLRs, as well as additional batteries and memory cards to ensure smile snatchers have enough power and memory to last through the day. A pen and paper also help, as they allow learners to take important notes or to sketch comic caricatures of their subjects before photographing them. For information on parking and directions to the studio, students may consult The Right Light Photography's blog or video.
