Educating girls and young women can benefit not only individuals, but also entire communities, particularly in the areas of health, economics, and the education of future generations. However, cultural bias and gender discrimination often prevent girls from gaining access to the same educational opportunities as boys. Room to Read is an organization that aims to improve literacy and gender equality in education throughout developing nations across Asia and Africa. Through a range of programs and local partnerships, Room to Read establishes libraries, publishes local-language children’s books, builds primary schools, and supports girls in completing secondary school with the skills needed to succeed in life.

Room to Read’s Girls' Education program supports female students by giving them the tools and resources they need to continue learning at the secondary level. The Girls’ Education program provides the comprehensive support girls need to complete secondary education, tailored to the cultural needs of each region the program serves. This support may include school fees, medical check-ups, tutoring, and mentoring, as well as supplies such as textbooks, uniforms, and bikes. The Girls’ Education program focuses on teenage students, identifying individual children as well as entire classrooms who are in need in developing countries, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, and Zambia.

Join G-Team and donate $10, $25, or $125 to help Room to Read’s Girls’ Education program support the education of the next generation of young women in eight developing nations, with matching donations from Atlassian up to $100,000. For every $125 G-Team members raise, one girl will get a year of comprehensive support for her education and life-skills training; at this campaign's tipping point of 500, at least 40 girls will receive one year of support. Each additional $10 raised will provide two weeks of educative support for one girl. All donations will be matched by Atlassian, a maker of software development and collaboration tools. Atlassian is a long-term supporter of Room to Read through donations from its Starter License program.
