The Lakefront Speedboat Tour ferries up to 135 passengers along the shores of Lake Michigan, passing such famed sites as Navy Pier, the Museum Campus, Grant Park, and the Magnificent Mile, while captains dispense enlightening tidbits about the skyline's history and architecture. A duo of 1400-horsepower engines fuel the Seadog Extreme vessel as it zips across Lake Michigan during Extreme Thrill Rides, coercing adrenaline out of hiding as captains perform sharp 360-degree turns and thrust the boat to a maximum speed of 45 miles per hour. Alternatively, the River and Lake Architectural Tour kicks off with a speedboat ride on the lakefront before passing through the locks and meandering through downtown and its opulent skyscrapers on the Chicago River. All tours depart from and return to Navy Pier. Click here to see a map of the tours' routes.
Since 1996, the staff at Seadog Cruises has welcomed explorers aboard sophisticated, open-air speedboats for city tours. Over the years, they’ve led more than two million sightseers through Baltimore and Chicago on cruises that elucidate city histories, paying special attention to landmarks such as Baltimore’s Naval Reserve Center and Chicago’s Tribune Tower. Their fleet of sea crafts uses low-sulfur diesel and a four-stroke engines that produce lower emissions than older models, allowing eco-conscious passengers to rest easy and fish to finally open their windows for some fresh water.
Although the tour is concise and fast-paced, they do give you a lot information about Chicago and get into some minor informational factsRaymond G., Yelp, 9/23/11
