Written specially for The Texas Amphitheater in Glen Rose, The Promise’s epic rendition of the life of Jesus Christ has inspired audiences for 23 years running and spurred international productions from South Africa to South Korea. Populated by a cast and crew of more than 150 devoted barnstormers, The Promise relates the gospels via contemporary Christian tunes, delivering modern theater without all the monster masks and sirens. The production paints the portrait of a cheerful, relatable savior across its approximately 2-hour and 15-minute running time, which also encompasses preshow entertainment, live animals, and dazzling production values playing over an elaborate multilevel set. Within The Texas Amphitheatre’s 3,200-seat venue, glimmering stars illumine an ultramodern stage equipped with a rippling moat, rain curtains, and a halo-polishing workshop. Parking is available at the Amphitheatre for $5 (not included in the value of this Groupon).

“Realize this is an outdoor venue, so dress appropriately. You may get splashed if you sit near the very front since there is a scene with dynamic water movement. Even though it'll take about three to three and a half hours to get through the show, stick around to take photos with the performers and thank them as much as they thank you. This is a VERY well-done program. If you've been to Branson, Missouri, and love that fare, you will like this. Unless you are going to pay for concessions on-site, make sure you eat before coming because many of the eating establishments will be closed when you exit. Oh, and take some extra time to make sure you find this kinda-hard-to-find-place.”
“It's an excellent performance done in a very professional manner. Take your blanket throws and sweaters because it gets chilly at night! :)”
