Like a materialistic lover, pie filling doesn't play nice unless you fork over a lot of dough and give it some sugar. Have a slice with today's Groupon to Tootie Pie Gourmet Café, at the two locations in San Antonio or the location in Fredricksburg. Choose between two options:

For $15, you get sandwiches, coffee, and pie for two (up to a $35.34 value). This meal includes:

  • Any two gourmet sandwiches or paninis with a side salad or chips (up to an $8.29 value each)
  • Two slices of pie (up to a $5.89 value each)
  • Two regular-size drinks (up to a $3.49 value each)

For $30, you get sandwiches, coffee, and pie for four (up to a $70.68 value). This meal includes:

  • Any four gourmet sandwiches or paninis with a side salad or chips (up to an $8.29 value each)
  • Four slices of pie (up to a $5.89 value each)
  • Four regular-size drinks (up to a $3.49 value each)

Tootie and her team dish up a menu of savory paninis and croissant sandwiches alongside 13 signature flavors of freshly baked pie, some of which were seen on the Food Network's Kid in a Candy Store. Dining duos bite into a grilled-portobello panini or chicken-salad croissant while crunching chips or weaving pieces of the side salad into a camouflage mask for sneaking unnoticed into a botanical garden. After a black-forest-ham panini or tuna salad on a bagel, sweets take center stage, as pie professionals roll out dough for fluffy crusts that soon brim with renowned fillings such as Coconut Supreme. Key-Lime Margarita pairs tangy citrus with smooth cream, and the Original Apple pie crams 10 apples into a six-pound behemoth further sweetened with cinnamon and sugar. On the beverage front, smoothies blend strawberry, mango, or peach for a straw-sipping chill, and coffee specialties blend espresso with coconut, caramel, and chocolate.

Tootie Pie Co. Gourmet Café

After being widowed in 1982, Ruby Lorraine Feagan, better known as Tootie, began supporting her family one pie at a time, building her reputation as she won a succession of baking contests throughout Texas hill country. Investor Don Merrill came into the fold after reading a flattering article in Southern Living magazine and subsequently tasting one of Tootie's crusty, buttery, 6-pound apple pies. Today, Tootie and her daughter continue to ensure the quality of Tootie Pie Co. Gourmet Café's 13 signature pie flavors — which also include lemon velvet, coconut supreme, and the Rachael Ray–praised pumpkin pie — as they're carefully crafted and delivered to customers' homes nationwide. The bakery's burgeoning fame has extended to the Food Network's Kid in a Candy Store, which featured Tootie's pie-on-a-stick, slices of signature desserts skewered and dipped in chocolate.

Inside Tootie's café, the menu of gourmet sandwiches includes sweet chicken salad with red grapes and pecans and italian grilled chicken panini with roasted red pepper and pesto or chipotle mayo. Sips of house coffee and espresso-based Milan mochas clear palates between bites better than vigorously shaking them Etch A Sketch–style.

The Groupon Guide to: Curing your Hiccups

Having hiccups can be an uncomfortable and embarrassing situation, often resulting in awkward blind dates and heated, whispered arguments with movie theater ushers over what qualifies as a medical condition. Blast your hiccups away using any or all of these folk remedies:

A Good Scare: One tried-and-true method of curing hiccups is to shock the body with fright. For instance, if you are afraid of public speaking, try attempting to give the most important speech of your life while suffering from hiccups.

A Spoonful of Sugar: As with so many of life’s problems, the solution to curing hiccups may lie in outright bribery. A spoonful of sugar swallowed directly onto the diaphragm will cure its sweet tooth and appease its spasms. For stronger cases, it is recommended to shove entire Tootsie Rolls directly into the belly button.

Holding Your Breath: By depriving your hiccups of oxygen, they, like all things, will suffocate and die, allowing your bloodstream to sweep up their withered remains and push them harmlessly out your nose. Note: if you hold your breath long enough, you can cure literally every other malady as well.

Does a spoonful of sugar really cause all your hiccups to die?
