A special-recipe hickory sauce, freshly grated cheddar cheese, and a toasted onion roll add flavor to the third-pound hickory burger ($6.75), West End Pub's world famous chicken salad sandwich takes white meat chicken, a secret blend of spices and tangy salad dressing and mounts it on a dark wheat berry roll ($6.50), and the Pub Pie's fresh vegetables, lean beef, and slow-simmered sauce ($9.75) have been a tradition for 24 years. West End Pub

Since 1988, West End Pub has brought a casual neighborhood vibe to the historic downtown area. People gather on its comfy leather recliners and couches or in an outdoor seating area with a view of the Dallas skyline, sipping on craft beers from local breweries, about 20 top-shelf rums, and more than 40 types of vodka. Guests order third-pound bacon-and-blue burgers or signature chicken-salad sandwiches while catching games on the 5’x8' projected high-definition screen, or build their own bloody marys during Sunday brunch.

Part of what gives the pub its welcoming, friendly atmosphere is a calendar of events that includes live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The Geeks Who Drink trivia nights combine little-known information with cold beverages, much like a spelling bee held at a lemonade stand. Some of the pub regulars have even harnessed their camaraderie for good by formulating West End Charities, an official nonprofit group that has helped to feed those experiencing homelessness and provide holiday meals and gifts to families in need.

The Groupon Guide to: Basketball Plays

Though it might seem like basketball players are just running around to maintain enough sweat to look beautiful on television, they are actually running complex offensive plays. Here are some simple plays that you can try out next time you hit the hardtop:

Dribble Drive: Each offensive player grabs a basketball and dribbles to the hoop. The one who dribbles fastest wins the points.

Pick and Roll: One of the players "picks" which teammate he believes will be the one to shoot the ball. If he is correct, the player that took the shot has to call a timeout so he can immediately get his reward—a "roll" filled with ham and creamed corn.

Backdoor Cut: This is considered the trickiest play in basketball because it requires the offensive team to distract the defense by having their coach put on a top hat, wander onto the court, and ask the defensive players if they'd like to see what his head looks like without a top hat. If the defensive players ignore the coach's distraction, the offensive players should blow on the defenders' eyes until the dryness becomes unbearable.

Which basketball player was voted most beautiful?
