Playing in the snow is a powerful experience because every time you tread on a fallen snowflake you’re making a commentary on how society smashes down any expressions of individuality. Go with the snow with this Groupon.
$25 for an Aerial7 Sound Disk Sports Beanie ($45 Value)
The Sound Disk Sport Beanie comes equipped with slim 8.55-millimeter earbuds that channel sound from iPhones, Blackberrys, or other mobile devices into ears with crystal-clear quality. The earbuds sit discreetly within the lining of the beanie, and they can be adjusted to cover the ears completely or sit partially behind them so cyclists and runners can still hear traffic. The hat is made from a crisp-white, moisture-wicking fabric that keeps heads dry and cool. Customers can pick up their hat, which boasts souvenir logos from Groupon and NYC Parks, from the Groupon tent between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the Winter Jam NYC festival; vouchers not redeemed will be automatically refunded to purchasers.
Winter Jam NYC
Winter Jam NYC gives New Yorkers who haven’t yet figured out how to jib the Brooklyn Bridge the opportunity to plant their skis and snowboards on fresh powder within city limits. During the event, attendees will snowshoe and cross-country ski across the snow the Parks Department has arranged to pump in near the Manhattan Bandshell Area in Central Park. Seasoned boarders and skiers will show off their moves on the open rail jam that is Red Bull’s MetroRail, though novices won't feel left out—they'll be too busy practicing at the Learn to Ride skiing and snowboarding workshops. Even dogs have their own designated area. Inside the Doggie Snow Zone, pups roam an enclosed, leash-free area while their owners glean tips from celebrity dog groomer and canine behaviorist Jorge Bendersky.
In keeping in spirit with the free festival, complimentary equipment will be available, and there will be no tax on sneezing. Groupon and other sponsors—such as REI and I Ski NY—will have tents set up throughout the festival, and Gore Mountain will be continually blanketing the grounds with fresh snow.
