Karma is a fantastic space. As soon as I walked in I felt relaxed. The staff are lovely, too!

Great experience! Instructor was great and I'm definitely going back. Watch out, though - I'm a beginner who went to an intermediate level class and ended up doing handstands. The instructor helps you through, though.

The Allston location may or may not reopen... (sounds like not)... But the Newbury Street studio is nice and spacious

Great studios. I go to the Harvard Sq and Allston locations and would highly recommend both. Student discount at the Harvard Sq location.

Great place! Biggest benefit is that it is usually not busy, so you have a nice gym to yourself. I like the zen ambiance.

Definitely a great groupon deal (I did the one month unltd gym access for $29). However, at the full price I probably wouldn't pay for the gym. At first glance, it looks great. There 's free wifi, a variety of machines, and the cardio machines (treadmill, elliptical) have TV screens attached. But on a closer look, things start to fall apart a little. For example, the wifi was too slow/spotty for me to stream any music on my phone. And when I plugged my headphones in to attempt watching TV, the jack was loose as a result of which the volume was low & sound quality, poor. The weights also looked like they had seen better days. However, the overall vibe of the gym and studio in general is nice.

Bring your own yoga mat and water! Or you can rent the mat and buy water there. It can get really warm (early June 2014 - high 70s outside) because it is on the top floor (3rd).

I went to my first yoga class yesterday and had a great time. The studio was beautiful--bright, airy, and very clean--and the instructor for the class (Brynne) was awesome. I'm new to yoga and she took the time after the class to help me understand some of the more complex poses I wasn't getting. The class was fun and challenging. I would highly recommend Karma Yoga on Newbury St., and I can't wait to go back, especially to another one of Brynne's classes!

From Our Editors

The variety of classes at Karma Yoga Studios might seem overwhelming at first. From beginners slow-paced yoga to heated core-power yoga, the studio doesn’t skimp on diversity. Beginners, though, need not worry, as the founder of Karma Yoga developed a special introductory course called PhysioYoga to ease students into their practice. All classes are taught by certified, passionate instructors eager to share the benefits of yoga with any person or flamingo that walks into one of their spacious, wood-floored studios. They designed their studios, gym, and cafe with green practices in mind, and their locker rooms feature Far-Infrared Saunas for relaxation after a grueling workout. High quality, eco-friendly Manduka mats are available to rent during yoga classes.
