Carpingo's car-sharing system takes the ownership out of “car ownership,” leaving drivers with to explore the wide-open road without the usual hassles. After locating a vehicle near their home or office, members reserve it for the length of time they need, from as little as one hour for a grocery run to an entire day for a grocery run to Virginia. Once it’s time to roll, a simple swipe of their membership card grants them access to the driver's seat and free reign of their temporary automobile. When finished, they return the vehicle to its reserved Carpingo spot, where it reminisces about its auto-factory days and waits for another member in need of transportation. While members enjoy the driving benefits of car ownership, Carpingo staff members handle the maintenance side, taking cars for any needed oil changes and garage visits.
