About D'Vine Wine Cafe

After graduating at the top his culinary arts class and honing his skills at the Club at Longview and Ratcliffe on the Green, chef Ashley Wilkes found a home at D'Vine Wine Cafe. Here, he prepares elegant seasonal menus with both small plates and full-sized entrees. In addition to the European-style dishes, the menu includes cheese and charcuterie spreads paired with bread and apple butter.

But Wilkes's food is only half the story. Just as important are owner and award-winning vintner Terry Miller's wine selections. Guests select pours from more than 40 wines by the glass, or choose from 550 bottles stored in a temperature-controlled cellar. The wine program, winner of an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator, is expanded by the onsite Wine Shoppe, where people can shop an additional 1500 bottles. Setting the ambience is live entertainment, which ranges from open-mic nights to acoustic to jazz, which can be enjoyed from open patio seating.

Food took over an hour to make it to the table. Entree was an overpriced Tapas at best. You can see why they're closing

There is a huge wine selection, so take time to look at it, ask questions! The menu isn't huge, but the food is excellent. Besides some appetizers (the house salad with strawberries & strawberry vinaigrette dressing is an excellent starter), there is a fuller size entree section, and a "small plate" (think Tapas menu) section. My husband was fully satisfied with the grilled shrimp & pasta (made spicier to taste for him) where the seared scallops (3 of them on a bed of crisp snow peas & bacon) was the perfect meal for me. I didn't leave feeling over-full, nor had a box to deal with leftovers. Dessert is a daily choice of cupcakes or creme brûlée. Staff is very pleasant; the place has bar seating, tables of varying sizes for dining, and grouping of easy chairs & coffee tables for conversation/wine drinking! The outdoor patio (they're on the 2nd level of Ballantyne Village, near the theater) has a nice view, but it was raining; however, there is an area near the entrance with seating, which is in the covered area of the Village. There are various events, as well; Tuesday was Open Mic night, so be sure to check if you want something fun to do. There was also a party room, that was in use when we went, but well enough away from the main area as not to be too loud. Enjoy!
