They refused me service (manicure) because of discoloration of my thumbnail. Pivot Point offered me $27 in other service, but do not want to go back. Would like Groupon to give me $27 credit.

The wait time was long, the manicurist didn't put the base gel coat on first and it had to be redone, the no chip manicure was peeling off in 4 days.

It was the worst mani/pedi we ever had. had to ask the girl to file my nails. just buffed them & started putting polish on. friends gel mani peeled off that same night because polish was on her cuticle. They left cream on our nails & polished over

Originally had an appt. to go to the Chicago location, but I got a call canceling my appt. because the location was closing & supplies had been packed up. I rescheduled for the Evanston location. Although very accommodating , it quickly became clear the person doing my gel mani. had little/no experience as a nail tech. Didn't seem comfortable with even the basic tools. I was going to a wedding the next day & couldn't risk getting a bad gel mani, so I asked to switch to a reg. mani. It then became clear she didn't know what she was doing when she applied lotion to my hands/nails & proceeded to apply the base coat over the lotion. That's when I asked her stop & decided to leave.

The no chip manicure was fine. However, the pedicure was awful. They had a very uncomfortable chair with a foot stool that kept falling over. It was also too short for people with longer legs so I I had to rest my foot on her leg for part of the time. I also found it very strange they used nail files instead of clippers to trim toe nails. The girl was very nice, but I felt so bad for her with the terrible set up she had and it was an awkward experience. I would have rather done my toes at home. I understand it is a school and the students are learning. The student was set up for failure with the set up and tools provided for pedicures.

From Our Editors

Leo Passage came to the United States in 1958, traveling with his wife Lenie and pair of shears. Leo was a rising star in the European hairdressing world, and had already gained noticed for his cuts that were a little more creative than most. He drew inspiration from the Bahaus principles of art and design as a starting point for his hair styles. His creative approach to personal style won him 95 hair dressing competitions and the title of World Supreme Champion and Hairdresser of the Year at New York's famed International Beauty Show in 1961. A year later, Leo decided to pass on his knowledge to a new generation of hairdressers, and founded the first Pivot Point Academy on the north side of Chicago.

Now, more than 50 years after its founding, Pivot Point's schools still embrace Leo's creative vision. Instructors arm students with top notch hair cutting and aesthetic skills, as well as an impeccable eye of style. The schools invite clients to come experience just how talented their students are with services such as haircuts, manicures, and pedicures, the cure for a listless foot.
