They only had a couple of items on their already limited menu. The tableclothes were dirty. We ordered a seafood dish that tasted as bad as the restaurant smelled. It smelled like old grease and the food had the same spoiled taste. The only thing available for dessert was banana pudding which I am allergic to with no other options. My husband ate it and it was just instant pudding with out any bananas. Unfortunately I have another Groupon we purchased for a family member as a gift and will not be giving this to them. Very Disappointed!!!!

First of all the rest was almost empty & the service was terrible so there was no excuse for the lack of service. The food was not at all enjoyable. We cant see this venue open for very long unless major changes are made. We are not usual complainers but just HAD to warn others!!!

We were one of MAYBE 3 tables that were eating and we waited an exceptionally long time for our food, which sadly was not worth the wait. Waitress was nice enough , but it was obvious that we were getting antsy and there was never any "I'm so sorry for your wait", nor did anyone ask if there was anything they could get us while we were waiting. I didn't realize Cafe Confidential was basically just a bar with very limited entree options, so we took our daughter (15 months old) for family date night. There was no children's menu ( or at least we were not offered one). One of our worst restaurant experiences to date :(. The only time I've said my groupon wasn't worth my money.

Food was awful. No flavor. Not enough salt. Prepared without any skill whatsoever. Worst meal I have had in years. Greasy fried bar food would have been better especially since it is just a big bar.

We were the only ones there besides a few patrons at the bar on a Friday night. That should have been a clue to leave. The food was not good at all. My wife and I had a few bites each of the entree. We didn't want to even think of staying for desert.

Burger was completely over cooked and inedible. My husband had this burger a few months ago when we visited (confidential burger) and it was delicious. We were told they had a change in chef, which might be the issue with the drastic change in quality. I ordered shrimp and grits, which I also had on our last visit (they were wonderful last time) and they were highly mediocre. The grits were lumpy and obviously were cooked at an earlier time and warmed. We also tried to order the mussel appetizer and they did not have any mussels. I instead we had the fish tacos (2 per order) for $9.50 I believe - not worth the money at all. Most disappointing was the manager never came to discuss the meal

From Our Editors

On the shores of Lake Norman, diners relax with craft cocktails and martinis, dining on feasts of steak sandwiches, pan-seared trout, and small plates of wings and fish tacos. The bill of fare combines homey Southern cuisine with upscale gastropub presentation and cookery, quelling hunger pangs with dishes such as Low Country shrimp and grits with parmesan reduction and tricolored bell peppers, bourbon bread pudding, and bacon-wrapped meatloaf with tomato jam.
