It was a great tour and very informative about the local wine industry. I'll always purchase groupons to help inform and support a local small business.
Thanks for the opportunity.

When people go for a wine tasting, they're looking for a nice outing. The Groupon promised a "tour" of the winery. The vineyards themselves looked lovely, but the tour consisted of going from the garage (aka tasting room) to the other part of the garage (aka wine making area) and listening to the owners talk briefly about the history of the farm and then about actually making the wine. There was definitely some interesting information conveyed, but it wasn't the scene I've become accustomed to when visiting wineries. If the winery owners are looking for constructive criticism, I'd say that it's just fine to have the tasting room in the garage, but they need to work with the colors, the lighting, and the decor. White walls and glaring bright light don't make for a relaxing experience. The bathroom was fairly horrendous. We also felt rushed through the experience in a "taste this, taste this, taste this, now leave" kind of way. Because there are signs that indicate part of the property is a private residence, it's also not the kind of place where you could buy a glass of wine and wander around looking at pretty grapevines. Or maybe you could, but I wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable doing so.
Finally, the wine wasn't particularly good. Maybe in a few more years, a lot of the kinks will be worked out. Unfortunately the owners work and live elsewhere, so the winery is only a weekend venture. As such, I don't think it'll be successful, although they do have the advantage of being one of the only wineries in the immediate vicinity, so they'll probably get a pretty steady stream of first time visitors. They'll have to up the ante though to get repeat guests.
