Now & Then Dance Studios, Fairfax

The dance studio was lovely and easy to get too. We attended a group lesson. The teacher was okay, but could have been a lot more effective. First, he always taught the men’s part first and then they waited while the woman’s part was taught- women follow and pick up usually faster so the men would forget or get confused and when we put it together had no example they could watch. Also the teacher taught 4 steps in the dance style but did not ever practice even the basic step to the music of the style. Everyone should walk away with the ability to do the basic step to the music.The teacher did not break it down well for new dancers- I am an experienced dancer so I got it, but my partner found it difficult.

Everything was great: practice party (in Rockville), group and private lesson (in Silver Spring). The instructors we met went out of their way to help us learn and make us feel comfortable as new dancers.

Classes were okay--group lessons turned out to be just us--so private lessons. Actual lessons to continue were quite expensive however.
