About Lake Hickory Adventures Dinner Cruises

Lake Hickory Adventures, a veteran-owned business, disembarks year-round for relaxing cruises along the shimmering Lake Hickory. With everything from indoor seating to barefoot decks with front-row views of the water, the boat lets you party on the lake without risk of ruining your finest herringbone lifejacket. Private charters and most public cruises are BYOB events where customers may bring their own alcoholic beverages if desired.

  • Dinner Cruises: As the lake turns saffron under the setting sun, passengers dine on meals that vary by date—menus may include bacon-wrapped sirloin and tilapia—while live musicians serenade them on the deck.

  • Private Charters: Groups of up to 50 relax on the boat with all three tiers to themselves, from the main deck to the fireside open-air seating on the roof. Passengers can either provide their own food and entertainment (via the boat's built-in speaker system). We provide catering via our caterers. Groupon clients may not provide their own catering, they must use ours.

Staff was friendly overall. Beautiful weather, boat was nice. Musician was entertaining. Food was pretty good overall. Overall our experience was good. Just a few things that could have made it GREAT. Cruise was scheduled 6:30-8:30, we ended up leaving a bit later, about 6:45pm. No biggie. This was a dinner cruise. Would have thought the food would have been out a bit earlier. We didn’t receive the entree until 8:00pm. We did have salad prior, but it took awhile for the 2-3 young gals working to get all the food out (they were trying, bless their hearts). We were seated on the top deck, on the right side. Each time the servers came around, they ALWAYS started the bottom deck first (left to right), them the top deck (again, left to right). We were basically served last. Each time. How about mixing it up and serving one round (drink or salad) one way, the reversing the order of service for the entree and dessert? This way, everyone gets a turn at being first and the people on the top right (our group) doesn’t have to wait to be served last EVERY time. The group on the other side got extra salad dressings and by the time they got to us, they actually ran out of everything except ranch. This could have been avoided by allowing only one dressing per person. By the time dessert was served, it was almost time to leave. Another small area of concern was we were not aware prior that the musician and servers worked on cash tips only. I only had larger bills on me and it would have been nice if they would have had the ability to make change. Not to sour the experience...we had a nice time and it was overall enjoyable but could have been much better with a few small changes: —have bread, Crackers, snacks on the table before the meal is served (or a “goody bag” upon arrival with a few snacks/candies inside as a way to say welcome!) —have small carafes or pitchers of water/tea on the table so guests don’t have to wait for the few servers to come back around much later for refills. —serve the meal earlier in the cruise (most people are pretty hungry by 6:30-7:00pm.) —consistency of food: several folks got much larger and thicker steaks, while others got much smaller portions (mad some steaks more well done than others). **Tip** always give the larger steak to the guys, they are the ones most likely to give the big tips (and have healthier appetites!) —have change accessible to assist staff with tips —mix up the order of food delivery to allow each group a chance to be served first (so the poor schmucks that chose the wrong seats don’t feel like they are getting the shaft every time. These few small things would have made a good experience a GREAT one:)
