- $199 for a semiprivate PADI Open Water Diver certification course and complimentary underwater scooter dive ($675 value)
Beach Cities Scuba’s semiprivate Open Water Diver course is imparted over the course of four days, which can be tailored to fit the needs of each student. After a brief Wednesday-night orientation, the first weekend starts with a classroom session, which covers the basics of equipment usage and quizzes students on the favorite colors of all known fish before taking to the safe confines of a pool for five pool dives. Four subsequent dives take place in the open ocean, giving each student the chance to dive off the edge of a boat or from the beach.
Students must provide their own mask, snorkel, logbook, glove, and fins, which can be purchased at a discount through Beach Cities Scuba’s store for up to $165 in savings; all training materials are theirs to keep. Textbooks and materials are not included and are available for an additional $70, which will be waived if mask, snorkel, logbook, glove, booties and fins are purchased on site.
