Best food, service, and ambiance north of the city. Great little find with parking and no hassle of the north end, Boston. Can't wait for them to re-open.

My boyfriend and I really wanted to like Pastalina's. It's a close drive, it had a mom-and-pop shop feel, and what a treat it would be to discover a little known gem. Unfortunately, we were thoroughly let down. To begin, the food was unpalatable. Please note, the pasta itself was not bad - however the sauces (we had the classic tomato sauce and a pesto sauce) were so salty that our dinners were essentially brined. The extremely salty sauces also affected our appetizer as well - so this was a pervasive problem. On top of that, the bread served on the table was ice cold and was one notch short of Wonder Bread. The oil served on the table with the bread was reminiscent of vegetable oil and was poorly seasoned. The whole BYOB thing and quaint set up are fine, but the bathroom was terrifying and the service could be a little slow. However, we would like to note that our waitress was friendly and polite. Conclusion: We will definitely not be returning to Pastalina's.

Real authentic Italian food, homemade pasta, and huge portions in this small quaint little restaurant. BYOB pushes this place over the top!
