We had a lot of fun. Make sure to go when the river is up so you do not have to walk and carry your kayak!

Kayaks are very small and the people who work here are not experienced enough to be sending out people into a river. When we were released into the water and started paddling, only then did the "guide" tell us to make sure to stay to the left. Being out first, I could not get around the rocks and to the left side in time and I flipped. If the guy had waited three minutes before hopping back in his van and driving off, he would have seen I was struggling. But he literally set us off, told us too late to stay left and then drove off. Well my canoe filled with water and I couldn't empty it so I had to struggle walking it over to the embankment. I ended up not being able to get all the water out but I tried again anyway. I flipped and lost the kayak and oar down the rapids. I had no choice but to slowly climb my way across the entire river to get to shore. Which then I had a long walk back through bushes and thorns to the drop point. There is no cell phone service and you have no way of contacting anyone. Its a very bad system. I was shivering and cold by the time I made it back. Luckily another kayak service was there and gave me a ride back. When I returned to saltsburg kayak they asked me "well where's the kayak and oar?" and were not concerned with my well being at all. I was highly insulted and dissatisfied. I was not offered a refund or any sort of apology for their lack of professionalism. I would rather pay double and go with a service who cares about their customers to make sure they are okay at the drop point and cares more about their safety than the kayaks themselves. I would want another company who is experienced enough to get different sized kayak for people who are over 150 pounds. This was not an appropriate river for a first timer either - like advertised. A guide should have been available as well as a way to contact. Horrible experience. Save yourself and go somewhere else.

We called last minute for a reservation, which was not an issue. The owners are super friendly and knowledgeable locals. They packed our gear and drove us to the drop off. The water and weather worked in our favor for sure. Great equipment! We did a 7-mile trip that took about 2 hours. Perfect way to spend our 13th anniversary!
