According to a story that's circulated for centuries, George Washington once threw a silver dollar across the Potomac River. It's unverified, but visitors can check the riverbanks for glints of ancient silver aboard the Capital Wheel at National Harbor. As it rotates, the stately observation wheel lifts riders as high as 180 feet above the river, giving them a birds' eye view of the river's waters and the DC skyline. Conveniently, the observation wheel's seats are enclosed in climate-controlled gondolas, so guests can ride in comfort no matter the season.

Excellent day trip with kids and the ride was long enough to enjoy the amazing views, but not bore the kids. Each car holds up to 8 people comfortably (we had 7). The staff was excellent with everyone wearing masks and definitely sanitizing every car between riders. The photos show that we were there on a beautiful, clear day and I’m sure a nighttime visit would be amazing.

Great experience the staff was very friendly and due to COVID-19 you could see they were taking care of their customers by wiping down everything before you entered and as you got off you see them going in and wiping down we had a very great time thank you

The employees were good and they make sure they cleaned everything down for you got onto it I felt safe being what we’re going through with COVID-19 right now it was a nice slow rise you got time to take in the views and everything that you wanted to see with a group on it was a very nice experience
