We've been in Sedona for a week and done everything under the sun, but this was the best! Amy, the guide, and her dog Ruby, were awesome, as were the horses. There were four people on this ride, plus Amy. We got to ride freestyle (not on a trail or nose-to-tail), up to a ridge, all over. We got to trot some along the way, and Amy took our pictures in particularly scenic spots. We saw jack rabbits and all kinds of cacti. We did the 9:00 a.m. ride, which was fortunate because of the heat. Take water and sunscreen! There is NO shade on the Sedona ride. This adventure really gives you a feeling for the southwest. It's beautiful, of course, but it's also interactive and authentic. A must-do!

Our trail guide, the older gentleman, was knowledgeable about the different species of plants and animals we encountered along our ride. The ride was very relaxing then more exciting when we came to the harder areas that the horses had to climb up and down steep rocky trails! The Wickenburg trail ride can be taken on by adventure seeking beginners as well as intermediate riders. We enjoyed it so much, that we'll be sure to make a return visit in the summer to try the Prescott trail next year!

Beautiful horses, beautiful location. However, the whole getup was unprofessional. We started an hour and a half late, our guide "Charlie" had strong smell of alcohol on his breath (at 9am) and smoked 4 or 5 cigarettes right by us during our time together. There were a few other things that made me question the professionalism of this place, but mainly just the guide.

The bridle broke on my horse. Another person in the group had her sadly fall off. The guide was bucked off her horse and horse refused to obey her. We had to return because of all the problems. No refund or rescheduling

It was my first time riding a horse. Our guide Charlie found me a sweet horse to ride. Even though my horse likes to closely follow the horse in front of us but she never done anything to scare me. I enjoyed the ride. Weather is not hot or windy. It was perfect! My husband and I both will definitely choose them again. Thanks! (P.S. we brought four bottles of water and never drank once during the ride because it was not hot today).

From Our Editors

Cowboy Way Adventures’ veteran wranglers traverse this vast landscape and know the wilds of Arizona almost as well as they know the muscular steeds they captain. To introduce others to the untamed beauty of the Arizona countryside, they match riders with compatible horses and lead guided trail rides.

After pairing each guest with a steed that moonlights as a cattle horse and occasional lounge singer, the wranglers take parties through the pine-filled Prescott mountains, trotting alongside rocky cliffs and through the Verde River. Riders wander down Sonoran Desert trails, past saguaro cacti and sandy washes that lick the bases of soaring cliffs.

Wranglers ensure a comfortable yet exciting journey that allows beginners to saunter along and advanced equestrians to gallop up hills and naturally occurring escalators.
