With the friendly attitude from the employees, I would love to see this place succeed. That said, I would recommend tying the theme together a little more. I found the black tablecloths confusing becuase they brought an elegant air to the atmosphere. If it's about great food and fun times, maybe go a little more casual or funky - like the art on the wall! I don't usually think of having shots with dinner. Again, a little confused. I'm not opposed to it, but would love a pairing suggestion for my dinner. Or, try suggesting an after dinner shot- like limoncello. The price is great. With some local buzz, this place can be the hot spot of South Tempe!

I had high hopes for Garlic and Shots, because I read the menu online before we went. The menu reads like a fantastic array of garlic inspired dishes. The concept is a great one, probably inspired by The Stinking Rose in San Fran (a gem of a garlic inspired restaurant in San Fran's little Italy section). First, we were 1 of 2 tables in the entire place, and the next 2 tables that came in told the hostess that they also had a groupon. I'm not sure that this place would have gotten any business that Saturday night without a groupon. We tried the mussels appetizer, steak salad and sliders (the sliders were recommended in a four square tip). Everything was just ok, which was disappointing considering the flavor promised by the menu. This place has potential, but someone needs to get it together for them. Perhaps, a visit from Gordon Ramsay would turn this nightmare into a good dream.

Get the basic mixers behind the bar....Jack Daniels is a staple every bar should carry. Tap beers need to be colder. Start the entertainment later (after 9 pm??) so people can enjoy the NHL, MLB, or NBA games without the music being too loud. Acoustic sounds better at half the volume and people can still visit.

The only thing it was too dark in the restaurant. Needs a little bit more lightning. The live band was good, too. I am not a beer drinker, but tried the summer beers peach and the other pineapple. Great to have a variety for people like me that don't drink beer and it was a good change. Thanks for the great food and service. We will be back.
