About The Sound Academy

Sound Academy coordinates some of the best theater in Toronto. From the moment the curtain draws, you'll be having a great time. Be sure to visit the restaurant at this theater for a delicious meal. Enjoy the beautiful weather while you chow down — with outdoor seating, Sound Academy is a great summer destination. The lively clientele and reverberating tunes result in a noisy scene, so don't plan any quiet conversation at the theater.

Parking is plentiful, so visitors can feel free to bring their vehicles.

He was good live but I was disappointed he didn't bring his back up singers. A lot of the backup vocals were pre-recorded. And Mos Def wasn't there so it was weird to hear the songs they sing together without him

Brilliant setting, terrible urban planning with one road in/out. Public Enemy rules.

Not in any way Groupon or Sound Academy's fault. Like almost every hip hop act, they decided to show up 2 hours after they were supposed to. Being a Thursday night, I didn't have the patience for it. They did sections of most of their songs, instead of just doing the whole thing (remember: they were there to do a single album in its entirety). As a comparison: I have seen The Hives and The Magnetic Fields at the same venue this year. Both bands have quite a few members, lots of gear, and tons of stuff to soundcheck. How come THEY were able to hit the stage on time, and two dudes who needed mics and an electrical outlet for their laptop couldn't? For shame, Pete Rock and CL Smooth. For shame.
