The warmup is an intense workout. You will be tired and sore, but you will get a great workout out of the class, and the instructors are amazing

Intense workout; expect to be sore the next day. Very friendly staff and members. Looking forward to going back.

Great time. Perfect for a beginner, they take it step by step. Great workout. The parking in rear streets is only 1 hour parking and classes usually run longer than that so be mindful. I usually park on the road bout it'll cost around $5-6 bucks.

amazing! I love TKMT. The instructors are friendly, the right amount of scary during training, and try to get you to push yourself. I hate working out, but this was a whole lot of fun despite being such a high-intensity work out!

It wasn't bad, but there were a few things I disliked. There was only one instructor to teach a class that had two groups, beginners and non beginners. This didn't give me a beginner any time to ask questions or concerns I had. The music was playing when the instructor was talking and people were not able to hear the instructor. This happened at the uptown location.

Try to be in moderate shape before your first time, and be well stretched. You'll enjoy yourself more

From Our Editors

In 2004, Warren Lee was a high-school teacher by day and a muay thai kickboxing private trainer on the side. But demand for his private lessons grew, and eventually the one-man business blossomed into a full-time combat-fitness business. Today, Lee runs Toronto Kickboxing & Muay Thai (TKMT) Academy at three locations, all of which provide friendly atmospheres for students to work up a sweat, shed stress, and learn self-defense. The staff credits its unintimidating and professional attitude with helping to draw an almost even split of male and female students?a rarity in martial-arts gyms.

All three locations feature pristine facilities and include men's and women's changing rooms and individual showers, as well as a boxing ring, grappling mats, thai pads, heavy bags, and an assortment of training equipment. The staff of committed instructors includes Ajahn Amnat Yodkwain, a former professional fighter and muay thai master who has trained in Thailand's combative arts since the age of 7. All of the academy's instructors possess CPR and first-aid certification and participate regularly in professional development. In order to join the team, they must also pass a series of rigorous tests designed to challenge their skills in muay thai, general fitness, and kicking cookie jars off the top shelf.
