Dress warmly and bring snacks and water with you, as only hot chocolate and coffee are available on the boat.

If you do not see any whales that is o.k. the coastal and harbour views are more than worth it . . . . you will likely see seals, sea lions, and elephant seals and perhaps lucky enough to see a rare sea otter witch was our case . . . . just enjoy the moment with no expectations just nature as it occurs naturally.

they are a great and very informative group to go with, love going in the bigger boats. Been out with them 4 or 5 times now as I am a local and enjoy being out on the water and all the better if i can see a whale. You will enjoy your trip without getting wet if you decide to go with them.

yes, please leave a tip. The employees are friendly and knowledgable and the research into Orcas and other beautiful sea creatures needs your support

The naturalists were great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. However the pilot and the researcher on the boat were very standoffish. They could of at least told us where we were headed and how far away the whales were. Other then that is was a great trip.

Awesome experience. Knowledgeable professionals. Saw whales, elephant seals, sea lions, harbour seals, eagles. We would get right back on the boat and do it all over again.

From Our Editors

The Salish Sea hosts one of the larger killer-whale gatherings on the planet. Home to three large pods of fish-eating resident orcas and pods of transient orcas that hunt for larger mammalian game. Five Star's captains give passengers a glimpse of this underwater entertainment by charting courses through the sea atop stable catamarans outfitted with four separate viewing platforms. From these lookouts, guests may spot the black and white killers, as well as minke, gray, and humpback whales and other marine life. Between sightings, crews keep parties comfortable within the heated cabin by supplying them with complimentary coffee, hot chocolate, and liquefied Herman Melville novels.
