About City Tavern

The gentle breeze from an outdoor patio wafts the scents of certified Angus grilled steaks and seafood dishes throughout City Tavern's dining rooms, where guests gather to celebrate milestones with dishes that are at once elegant and familiar. Crackling fireplaces cast a soft glow that illuminates meals of sophisticated comfort cuisine featuring high-quality ingredients, such as seafood-stuffed eggplant with roasted red pepper cream sauce and build-your-own bison burgers. Back in the kitchen, chefs age Angus steaks for 21 days to unlock a mature flavor that can stand beside one of 45 specialty martinis without getting carded. The bar serves dinner and small bites—including fried cheesecake and vegetarian hummus with toasted pita points.

We had the Groupon for City Tavern but they closed. We went to the Shore Club to redeem our voucher. It was our first time there and we liked it. Our waitress was super friendly. Food was decent. My husband had a steak. It was just okay, nothing special, but was way overpriced. I had their specialty chicken and that was good and priced well. The steak was $26 and definitely not worth it. It was their special and we didn’t ask the price so that was on us. Would be visit again? Maybe, maybe not. I thing really stood out as good or bad.

Excellent meal and service! Chicken saltimbocca is my favorite, many flavors and large portions. Also enjoy blackened seafood with cajun cream, ribeye. Cole slaw is different and tasty.

City Tavern (now closed, unfortunately) and the Shore Club have the same owner but the dining experience has always been curiously different. We were disappointed on our first visit to the Shore Club and hadn't returned until recently. After City Tavern closed, we still had a Groupon for lunch so our only option was to redeem it at the Shore Club. I was hopeful but my hopes were dashed quickly. We ordered our burgers medium; they were served medium-well to well done. The french fries had that cardboard taste typical of frozen potatoes. The hamburger buns were dry and tasted like day-old (or, maybe, 2-day-old) bread. For the life of me, I can't figure out why the same ownership of 2 restaurants only a few miles apart should be the night-and-day experiences they are but we won't be returning until a consensus forms that these issues have been corrected.
