AWOL’s acrobatic instructors help students tone up and defy gravity in alternative fitness classes. Those new to high-flying exercise regimes can leap into the two-hour intro workshop, an all-levels sampler session that teaches the basics of swinging from a trapeze and honing realistic Spider-Man poses during silk-rope routines. Visitors can take to the skies in the Aerial Yoga class, supported by silk ropes or pet pterodactyls to practice a medley of yoga poses, breathing techniques, and postures. In the aerial fitness class, participants complete a muscle-toning workout routine with both ropes and pull-up bars suspended from the gym’s high ceilings. No matter the class, AWOL instructors keep groups small to give ample face-to-face tutelage to no more than 16 students at a time.
