Belle Meade Plantation scatters abundant greenery and eight historical buildings across 30 acres, inviting guests to explore its storied opulence and swill complimentary sips of Tennessee wine. Knowledgeable tour guides lead visitors through the regal mansion, which flourishes with detailed wall paintings, winding staircases, and ornate chandeliers donned especially for formal dates with neighboring abodes. Steal glimpses of the carriage house and stable, then head to the winery to sample locally culled libations such as the three-grape Bramble Blush blend, a nostalgic blackberry wine, or Racing Silk Red, a favorite of equine sommeliers.

About Belle Meade Plantation
In 1807, John and Susannah Harding purchased two-hundred acres of property on the Richland Creek seven miles west of Nashville, and from a two room cabin that still stands today established “Belle Meade”, or the beautiful meadow. Unlike contemporary farms in the region, Belle Meade was not renowned for the production of cash crops, but for the thoroughbred racehorses that would eventually take the Harding’s and their estate to a national and global level of fame during its 100 years of operation.
After training you to ride a Segway, an experienced historian will guide you around all 30 acres of Belle Meade’s historic grounds. You will explore the vast history of the site, see historic images of the grounds and out buildings, and hear about how Belle Meade operated as a fully working plantation. End the 90 minute Segway tour in the shadow of our Greek Revival style mansion, making sure to get some pictures with the mansion as the backdrop. Once the Segway tour is over, walk over to our winery for a wine tasting.
