The Mediterranean Sea absorbs the cuisines and cultures of its shores, thus explaining its abundance of toga-clad dolphins and boot-shaped stingrays. Immerse yourself in tasty tradition with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of Mediterranean fare, brunch, and drinks at Brownstone Bistro.

The chefs at Brownstone Bistro collect the flavours of Italy, Greece, and North Africa and reassemble them into culinary creations for lunch, dinner, all-day breakfast, and weekend brunch. The crispy canvas of the Calabrese pizza hosts the savoury brushstrokes of spicy italian sausage, veggies, and mozzarella ($15), and the cannelloni seafood wraps salmon, calamari, and shrimp in pasta quilt ($18). Brunch-goers relish sweet selections such as stuffed french toast ($11) and savoury options including smoked-salmon benedict ($13). A glass of wine any night or sangria on Wednesdays adds a refined touch to people-watching and Icarus-tracking on the Yonge Street patio, and indoor candlelight keeps patrons from mistaking their dates for their attorneys.

We were disappointed when we went to use our last Groupon on Feb. 16 (last date to use) and found that the restaurant was closed to film a "Restaurant Makeover" tv show and were closed. When we spoke to the owner at a later date, he said it was our problem for waiting until the last day. However, we had dined there on Feb. 9 and there was nothing posted at the restaurant to indicate that they would not be open until the last date their Groupon coupon was to be honoured to. Disappointing to say the least and they should not have closed to the public until past the 16th.
