Read on to learn about the chef and his waterfront venue's flavorful menu.
Meet the Chef
When Robert Lam's family settled outside of LA after the fall of Saigon, his mother opened Vien Dong. Inspired by his mother's cooking, Robert attended The Culinary Institute of America in New York before returning to the West Coast. After earning praise at Brannan’s Grill in Calistoga, Robert purchased Butterfly, where he draws on Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean culinary traditions to create what he calls “Asian within Asian” cuisine.
