My experience was bad. It appeared that it was a bait and switch situation. I requested the Firefly Suite when I booked my room via email. I had been in contact with Ashley. When I arrived, they gave me keys to a bedroom for myself and my older sister whom I took on vacation for her birthday. Upon seeing the room, I spoke to Charles and let him know how unhappy I was. He then gave me keys to another room next door and the two of us had our own seperate rooms. We were pleased until I had the opportunity to see the actual Firefly Studio. I was extremely disappointed. The owner appeared to be an overseer, he bossed his employees around and had them "trained" to treat guests differently. I noticed that guests who were definitely not native to St. Lucia and those who "appeared" native were treated extremely different by the staff. Black guests were not greeted, were treated as if they were less than, there was blatant racism. The staff had poor record keeping. I was told that I had to pay taxes upon check in, I paid cash. I was told I had to pay the same fee at check out. The owner has a big, black, male labrador that walks around, barks causing disturbances, and defecates on the grounds. I found that my experience away from the resort was the most exhilarating and pleasant. I will never, ever go to this resort again!!! Saint Lucia is a beautiful and breathtaking place, its sad that the service and treatment of guests wasn't reflective of that.

Saint Lucia: French-Inspired Cuisine and Spectacular Volcanoes

Located in between Martinique and Saint Vincent in the eastern Caribbean, Saint Lucia was coveted by the British and French, who quarreled over the island for more than a century. Although English is now Saint Lucia’s official language, the French seem to have left a more noticeable influence on its arts and cuisine. Along the coast, a string of marinas exhibits a cultural blend through restaurants ranging from fried-fish shacks to upscale French eateries. Grab a table to sample meaty pepperpot stew, spinach-like callaloo soup, or the country’s national dish of green fig—a Caribbean term for small, unripe bananas—and salt fish.

With several beaches, Saint Lucia attracts those looking for snorkeling excursions, dolphin-watching tours, or deep-sea fishing trips in search of blue marlin, barracuda, and mako shark. Crowds descend on the popular Reduit Beach at Rodney Bay, not too far from the 18th-century British forts at Pigeon Island National Park. For a less hectic scene, head south down the coast to Anse Chastanet, a more secluded beach with giant palm trees and undulating green hills.

A vacation in Saint Lucia is not complete without a visit to one of its volcanoes. Considered the country’s unofficial symbol, the Pitons are two vegetation-covered volcanic plugs rising more than 2,000 feet above the western coast. Nearby Saint Lucia Volcano is considered “the world’s only drive-in volcano,” as you can drive your car close to the volcanic crater to see its steaming sulfur springs.

I left feedback on Trip Advisor and via email to the owner. He was crass, rude and dismissive. Very bad customer service and a total scam.

Bathroom was disgusting. Plenty of hair, old soaps & trash were in shower stall. Taxes were ridiculous. Food was less than desirable. They only had 2 frozen drinks to choose from--rum punch or fruit punch--and were out of mango & strawberries daily. The service was subpar. Our final bill was them basically charging whatever they felt until we called them on it. The spa service was nice, but they only had one person working. The beach was the size of our front lawn. The water was a disgusting sewer green color--not the beautiful blue found on other parts of St. Lucia. Overall, we feel it was a big waste of money. We have been to other parts of St. Lucia and will continue to visit. We wiil, however, never go back to Marigot Beach Club.
