Consider the course of human evolution: leaps and bounds in technology have made it so that far more than the strongest (or the smartest) survive. And with some of the dullest crayons in the drawer procreating most often, culture might be on the brink collapse—at least according to Idiocracy. In this comedy, Mike Judge (creator of Beavis and Butthead and Office Space) looks forward 500 years and finds people obsessed with television and sex, the government run by a professional wrestler (Terry Crews), and sprinklers pumping electrolyte-packed sports drink onto crops (because “it’s what plants crave”). But when two people who’ve been frozen in time (Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph) suddenly thaw, they might have the common sense necessary to save the world.
