The intimately sized Nashville Comedy Theater strums the funny bones of Music City with barrages of improvisational humor and weekend showcases that nurture the blossoming comic talents of Nashville. On Fridays and Saturdays, a capacious collection of quick-witted quipsters squares off for games of audience-suggested hootenanny and good-natured Shakespeare shaming, never relying on scripts, cue cards, or Elizabethan Morse code. On Friday, September 16, the Theater invites audiences to bellow their best “Pomp and Circumstance” at the Student Showcase, where improv-class graduates strut their sharp synapses in playful exercises and Bard-barbing feats of spontaneity. Saturday, September 17 brings the preliminary round of the Iron Songwriter Competition where teams of melodic funny-folk scramble to compose songs inspired and judged by the audience. The semifinals continue on October 15 and November 19, before concluding with the final round on December 17, where one prevailing troupe will win the Iron Songwriter title. Keep an eye on the show schedule, as show themes are subject to change, because of the intrinsic nature of improvisation. Performances are generally rated PG to PG-13, so bars of soap can enjoy the show without the fear of being tasted.

Great group of performers and I loved the addition of the up-to-the-minute additions with the computer graphics.
