Dance Wisconsin’s pre-professional dancing ranks raise a pedestal on which to glorify their art form as 120 young dancers take the stage to bolster holiday merriment in a production of Nutcracker Fantasy. Riffing on E.T.A. Hoffman’s beloved tale, Dance Wisconsin’s fancy footworkers pirouette through fantasy worlds filled with dancing toys, sugar-plum fairies, and licorice tax attorneys. The Dance Wisconsin Orchestra joins forces with the Monona Grove High School Singers to dish out the dulcet tones of Tchaikovsky’s classic The Nutcracker ballet, mixed with traditional carols and original arrangements by local composer Taras Nahirniak. Following the Sunday matinee, audience members will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with guest artists Justin Genna and Nicole Teague, wherein the duo will answer questions about the production and divulge the stage manager’s Social Security number.
