What You'll Get
A tortilla makes a handy mouse pad, an acceptable patch for stiff denim jeans, and, if you draw a face on it, an ideal companion on fishing trips. Discover other uses for this delicious disk with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of Mexican fare at Latino's Mexican Restaurant & Bar.
Latino's chefs follow the culinary blueprints of family recipes passed down from grandmother to children, assembling a menu of authentic Mexican cuisine. Chilies and spices shipped from California, Texas, and Mexico saturate palates with true Mexican zest, and locally acquired meats and vegetables imbue dishes with fresh flavors. Chips and salsa greet guests at the outset of dinner—the time science has proven humans are least likely to be thinking about lunch—and guacamole fights for the title of most delicious appetizer. A grilled beefsteak, known as the carne asada, bathes in a homemade sauce and simmers with grilled onions, slices of poblano peppers, and a tamale, and the enchilada caucus discusses the pros and cons of wearing green salsa, red salsa, or mole sauce. Feel free to bookend dinner with a sweet sampling of flan, fried plantains, or crispy cinnamon-topped tortillas as a final flavor finale.
Latino's features a live pianist on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m. and dancing on the same night from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m., giving guests the chance to enjoy salsa, cumbia, merengue, and bolero music along with their meals. Chefs also welcome customers to tour the kitchen, but a special permit and a tuxedo are required to tour the ventilation system.
