Mediterranean civilizations invented many lasting concepts, developing astronomy to explain the cosmos and democracy to equally divide lamb kebabs. Split a skewer with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of American-Mediterranean fusion dinner cuisine at Lulav. Click here to view the menu.
Lulav’s executive chef, Matthew Cooper, crafts dishes that bridge the eastern and western hemispheres to beguile taste buds with multicultural influences. Though the menu changes as regularly as a shape-shifter in a speed-dating event, past starters have included such dishes as foie gras Parisienne ($12), a french foie gras pan-seared and finished with lingonberry jam. Entrees lead taste buds on an exotic voyage through dishes such as New Zealand grass-fed veal chops ($38), Montreal duck breast seared and served with a pomegranate demi-glace ($28), and bouillabaisse ($30, a stock pot of lobster tail meat, clams, mussels, and bluepoint crab in a tomato and saffron broth.
Inside the historic Mathis Building, a Spanish Mission--style structure completed in 1929 on the eve of the stock-market crash, the Lulav crew cultivates an intimate yet festive atmosphere. Nightly specials include Martini Mondays (not included in this Groupon), and a lounge fills up with live music, plush couches, and fluffy pillows poached from wild-furniture stores.
