On September 15 and 16, Lugano Swiss Bistro and The Barnyard Shopping Village transform the latter's new outdoor grounds into a German jubilee. Revelers gather under an enormous tent to dance to the music of The Internationals, a spirited quartet emitting European-styled tunes⎯from polkas to waltzes to schottisches⎯from their respective accordion, tuba, horns, and drums while clad in lederhosen. German cuisine such as bratwurst, bavarian chicken, and pretzels (not included with this Groupon) also help to ring in the vernal equinox. Guests can also purchase colossal steins of Spaten lager and Spaten Oktoberfest brew. Event sponsor and Lugano Swiss Bistro chef Andre Lengecher perhaps sums up the event best: "To me, Oktoberfest is a great time of camaraderie, beer, dancing, lederhosen, and fun. It's just fun."

Lugano Swiss Bistro

Among carved wooden furniture reminiscent of an Alpine chalet, Chef André Lengacher anchors checkered tablecloths with Swiss specialties such as lightly breaded schnitzel and creamy fondue. Alongside traditional sandwiches like tuna melts and a pork roast on ciabatta, diners can enjoy a grilled tilapia salad during lunch hours, while those hunting for dinner can order up a rack of lamb or the monstrous farmer's mountain sausage platter, replete with veal bratwurst, polish and garlic sausage spatzli nestled up to a mound of sauerkraut. Trompe l’oeil wall murals transport diners to a picturesque mountain village, as a brigade of musicians perform traditional tunes on accordions and violins that harmonize gracefully with opera-trained cuckoo clocks.
