What You'll Get
Photographers preserve subjects' precious memories, abolishing the need to hastily scoop reflections out of nearby fountains. Seek permanence with today's Groupon: for $59, you get a two-hour group photography class from NorthLight Photography (a $180 value).
Winner of a 2010 Gold recipient from the Professional Photographer's Association of America, experienced photographer Janet Boschker invites intrepid lens lookers to NorthLight's studio to hone their picture-taking skills and better understand their cameras. A 45-minute lecture kicks off the two-hour class and discusses how proper lighting, composition, and lens choice can lead to eye-catching photos devoid of frowning orbs and accidental bunny ears. After the lecture, the small class of 8–20 fledgling shutterbugs embarks on a photo safari of Central Avenue, using a shot list as a guide for the visual scavenger hunt. NorthLight Photography encourages participants to wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing for the photo safari and to bring a working knowledge of their camera.

About NorthLight Photography
A mop of hair fringes an infant's milky-white face, his plump cheeks reminiscent of a porcelain doll. Though the image is black and white, the boy's eyes are as striking as any baby blues—reflections of the white linens gathered around his legs add depth and life to his playful gaze. This photograph, which won Janet Boschker the Canon Par Excellence Award in 2010, is but one of many that have earned the photographer numerous accolades.
At Northlight Photography, the Boschker's own studio, the photographer flaunts her signature blend of award-winning artistry in custom portraiture. Whether capturing the innocence of a child, the love of a family, or the excitement of a special event, she strives to turn each image into an artistic and timeless representation of its subject. The expert also shares some of her trade secrets through introductory and advanced photo classes.
