Unlike summer camps, boot camps won't require you to put on a fundraising talent show to stop a nefarious computer company from turning Lake Cowabunga into its new industrial-waste depository. Team up to fight unfitness with today's Groupon: for $25, you get one month of unlimited boot-camp classes at Rejuvenation Fitness in Canton (a $150 value).
Rejuvenation Fitness founder and instructor Terry Pratt has been doling out physique-forming tutelage for 18 years––receiving his bachelor of science from Eastern Michigan University, his certification through the American Council for Exercise, and his bulging biceps from years of arm-wrestling marble statues. Terry and his trained fitness facilitators lead body-sculpting, calorie-busting group boot-camp classes that combine heart-pumping cardio drills with strength-stoking moves that work multiple muscle groups. Because each workout moves students through rotating exercise stations at high intensity, the body is saved from boredom, and burns up to 30% more calories than a traditional workout routine, keeping the metabolism revving long after the last squat has been squatted and the final human plank has been nailed securely into place. Classes are available six days a week, with morning sessions held on Saturdays and Sundays.
Rejuvenation Fitness's founder Terry Pratt started his gym more than 20 years ago after discovering that the standard membership model offered by most gyms didn't generate the results he wanted. The problem, as he saw it, was that most people simply weren't doing the right kind of training. After research and education, he determined that metabolic resistance training—combing plenty of cardio with pushing, pulling, climbing, tossing, and lifting—not only toned the body, but consumed fat more quickly than any one form of exercise on its own. He continues to evolve his perspective on fitness with modern trends, incorporating everything from perennially popular push-ups to kettlebells and TRX suspension harnesses into his ever-changing regimen.
