With more than 25 years of yoga experience, owner Shelli August dedicates her studio to the practice of Sivananda yoga, a centering style that fosters holistic health with strengthening poses, calming breaths, and wholesome dietary philosophies. Accommodating students of all skill levels with occasional beginners classes, the studio’s patient instructors guide pupils in the 12 basic asanas of Sivananda yoga—including shoulder stands and twists—and introduce additional variations when appropriate. Students work through invigorating poses during each class, loosening taut muscles around the spine while clearing away any traffic jams in the body’s superhighways of inner energy. Meanwhile, a series of measured breathing exercises helps to focus thoughts inward by asking students to concentrate on filling and emptying lungs to complement posture progressions.
