What You'll Get
A recent survey ranks whales' bellies ahead of safety-deposit boxes and mattresses as the preferred place to store valuables. Experience one of nature's most priceless resources with today's Groupon: for $19, you get a whale-watching tour from San Diego Whale Watch (up to a $38 value).
The marine team at San Diego Whale Watch organizes whale-watching tours, sunset cruises, and private parties on the Privateer, a 149-passenger boat. The approximately three-hour tour takes place 5–9 miles off the coast, where migrating blue whales provide spectator camera fodder by flipping their massive flukes and dining with celebrities at oceanic hot spots. An experienced marine biologist narrates the tour and helps passengers spot San Diego's diverse collection of aquatic wildlife, including minke, pilot, and sperm whales, as well as dolphins, sea lions, and Splash DVDs.
Designed and built for whale watching, the Privateer boasts spacious outdoor decks and an interior viewing area that allows for year-round excursions. Whale-watching tours are held at 10 a.m. Monday–Thursday and at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If both whales and dolphins fail to make an appearance during the safari, the company’s whale guarantee gives patrons a free pass for another trip, ensuring they have another opportunity to see smooth, glistening mammals without attending a Mr. Universe competition.
During the summer, San Diego Whale Watch offers two tickets for the price of one for the Tuesday tour. This Groupon is not valid with this offer.

About San Diego Whale Watch
San Diego Whale Watch sets sail along the scenic Pacific coastline in search of the area's most beautiful and splash-happy underwater residents. An experienced marine naturalist lends their knowledge and keen eyes to each three-hour tour, pointing out whales and dolphins as they surface alongside the hull of veteran Coast Guard-certified vessel the Privateer. The spacious and clean New England-style boat seats 149 passengers and floats low in the water to allow its passengers up-close views of the amazing marine wildlife from indoor and outdoor decks and seating areas. Daytime tours embark as early as 10 a.m. to catch the whales as they commute to work.
