The certified instructors at The Cliffs at Valhalla imbue novice wall walkers with the skills to conquer cliffs and climbing walls in a facility boasting more than 13,000 square feet of scalable terrain. During the three-hour Climbing 101 course, groups cover knot tying, harness use, verbal commands, and belay techniques, learning the basic tools necessary for vertical movement or successful eagle wrangling. After completing the course, students can show off their crag-conquering prowess across one month of unlimited climbing, where they’ll have access to more than 50 top ropes, 2,500 square feet of bouldering, and a rappel tower. Singles, duos, or quartets of rope wielders test out new skills on the indoor gym’s roofs, overhangs, slabs, and arêtes, and all necessary equipment—including shoes, harnesses, belay devices, and yodeler hats—are provided.
The Cliffs at Valhalla
At The Cliffs at Valhalla, professional setters map out more than 200 new climbs every three months. It’s part of the gym’s mission to keep routes as challenging and engaging as those found outdoors.
Though ideal for skilled climbers, the gym caters to first-timers too. Certified instructors lead adult classes in climbing basics. Staff members guide customers to the proper gear and yodeling song books at the pro shop, and they even created a fitness area with climbing-specific cardio training equipment and yoga classes to complement the climbing terrain.
The Cliffs at Valhalla also readies kids for climbing. Climbing camp lets kids experience indoor and outdoor climbing, and award-winning birthday parties furnish groups with private climbing walls and a 1:5 instructor to student ratio.
