Widow's Walk Golf Course
Winds from the Atlantic Ocean sweep across Widow's Walk Golf Course, almost as a constant reminder that nature was here first. The 18-hole, par 72 course opened in 1997 to national acclaim thanks to its environmentally friendly design and commitment to protect the site's wildlife. Evidence of that commitment surrounds golfers as they weave past undisturbed wetlands and peer across the landscape from elevated tees.
The course's designers plotted holes and fairways around the property's natural contours instead of digging up the land or hiring a dinosaur to come and walk around for a while. Despite its friendly relationship with Mother Nature, the course may not be so friendly to scores. That's especially true of the 13th hole, which is widely considered the course's stiffest challenge due to its narrow fairway, water hazards, and red stakes lining both sides.
